Over the last few months I have been using the Mars network monitor to keep an eye on some of our production hardware. In that time I've created a couple of plugins that we find useful to notify us when something goes wrong.
Mars has many excellent plugins available for mail/jabber/screen notification etc. but we wanted a few extra things so they are included here in case anyone else finds them useful. I've mentioned them on the Mars discussion boards and had a few enquiries, but the core mars project has gone very quiet at the moment.
If anyone from the mars project thinks they are good enough and fit a more generic need I'm happy for them to be migrated into the core product.
The code presented is based very heavily on then existing plugins so I'd like to take the chance to thank everybody who has previously been involved with Mars, its a great little project that has hit the spot perfectly for my usage. Its reliable enough for what we need without being hugely complex, and been very easy to extend. The two plugins we have built are :Paul Goulbourn 05/05
